Terms of Service

Before using services provided by HaloNovel, you need to read the Terms of Service (hereinafter referred to as “the Terms”, “these Terms”) and comply with the Terms when you use the services. Please read the Terms carefully, especially those relevant to indemnification or limit of liability.

If you don’t agree to any of these Terms, you cannot use the services HaloNovel offers. By accessing the services in HaloNovel, you’ve read and agree to be governed by the Terms.

If you are under 18 years of age or do not have full civil capacity, you should read the terms together with your guardians and pay special attention to terms relevant to users under 18. Otherwise, HaloNovel will not be responsible for any adverse consequences that may occur to you as a result of such subsequent registration or use of our services. HaloNovel reserves the right to terminate your use of our services.

Clause 1. Scope of the Terms

The Terms are an agreement between you and an operator of HaloNovel (hereinafter “we”, “us”, “our”). Any use of the services or products under HaloNovel by any user is governed by these Terms. The term “operator” refers to a legally recognized entity responsible for operating HaloNovel. The term “user” refers to you or anyone who uses the products or services offered by HaloNovel.

Clause 2. Security of Your Account and Password

You need to register for an account before you can access our services.
HaloNovel reminds you to keep your account and password secure. Log out whenever you stop using our services. You are responsible for any account theft or loss due to improper storage.
HaloNovel recommends that your password includes at least three of the following: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special symbols. HaloNovel will not be responsible for account insecurity or unauthorized privacy disclosure not caused by HaloNovel.

Clause 3. Personal Information Protection

HaloNovel takes securing users’ personal information as a fundamental principle. We may require certain information to provide services; users are responsible for providing accurate and complete information.

You may review and modify your information, except for initial registration details used for identity verification.
HaloNovel uses security technologies and management systems to protect your data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
We will not share your data without your consent, unless required by law, government order, or for legitimate interests of HaloNovel.

Clause 4. User Commitments

Use our services only for personal, non-commercial purposes unless otherwise agreed.
Do not use unauthorized plug-ins or tools to interfere with HaloNovel.
Any violations may lead to suspension or termination of your account and legal consequences.

Clause 5. “As Is” Service Disclaimer

HaloNovel provides services “as is” and “as available”. While we strive for continuity and stability, we cannot guarantee immunity from technical failures, viruses, or government actions.

Clause 6. Access Device Requirements

You are responsible for preparing your own terminal equipment and covering any expenses (e.g., Internet fees) when using HaloNovel.

Clause 7. Advertising

You agree that HaloNovel may display advertisements or promotions. You must evaluate their authenticity yourself. Paid services do not exempt you from seeing ads.

Clause 8. Subscription and Payment

HaloNovel reserves the right to charge for its services. Fees are non-refundable after consumption. Refunds for unused top-ups are subject to a 10% handling fee. Recharge errors caused by user negligence are not eligible for compensation.

Clause 9. Earnings Distribution

Content creators on HaloNovel may receive rewards, from which a platform fee (up to 50%) will be deducted. Refusing this deduction means you cannot use content publishing features.

Clause 10. Third-Party Products or Services

When using third-party products on HaloNovel, you must comply with both these Terms and the third-party’s own terms. Disputes are resolved per Hong Kong law and HKIAC arbitration rules.

Clause 11. Software License

HaloNovel grants you a personal, non-transferable license for its software. Updates are required to maintain functionality.

Clause 12. Intellectual Property

All content, materials, trademarks, and software belong to HaloNovel or its licensors. You may not copy, distribute, or modify any part without authorization.

Clause 13. User Violations

Do not publish illegal, pornographic, or defamatory content.
Do not infringe others’ intellectual property or privacy.
Do not distribute spam or misleading information.

Violations may result in content removal, account termination, or legal actions.

Clause 14. Compliance with Local Laws

You must comply with local laws and customs when using HaloNovel. Do not involve HaloNovel in political or public events.

Clause 15. Complaints from Third Parties

You are responsible for all content you upload or transmit and any resulting disputes. HaloNovel may remove content upon valid complaints.

Clause 16. Force Majeure and Indemnification

HaloNovel is not liable for service interruptions caused by natural disasters, wars, hacker attacks, or similar uncontrollable events.

Clause 17. Modifications to the Terms

HaloNovel reserves the right to amend these Terms. Continued use after updates means acceptance.

Clause 18. Service Changes or Termination

HaloNovel may suspend or terminate services under certain conditions, such as law violations or security concerns.

Clause 19. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Hong Kong law. Disputes shall be resolved by the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC).

Clause 20. For Users Under 18

Minors should use HaloNovel under guardian supervision. Guardians should instruct minors on safe internet usage.
